Woodbridge International, an innovative mergers and acquisitions advisory firm focused on middle market companies, is seeking an Underwriting Intern. The Underwriting team handles the upfront financial analysis, risk assessment, business review and client transaction preparation. This team makes sure a deal can be done, and sifts out any potential deal-killers. This team also supports the transaction closing team. This role will work under the direction of both Certified Public Accountants and Senior M&A Bankers who are well seasoned deal-makers. Located in the New Haven, CT area, Woodbridge provides sell-side advisory services to companies across a broad range of industries, managing deals with a transaction value of $5 million-$250 million.
Interface with the entire Woodbridge International team;
Analyze financial statements & business models;
Conduct sell-side due diligence on Clients;
Research basic and intermediate accounting topics and present it to more senior members with your proposed solution;
Develop and apply an intermediate knowledge of accounting principles;
Participate in multiple engagements and begin to interact with client personnel;
Be a contributing member to the team, soaking up information and competently analyzing and prioritizing information to make appropriate recommendations and suggest solutions;
Participate in special projects for our clients that provide further growth and learning experiences, as needed;
Contribute ideas/opinions to the engagement teams;
Collaborate with clients, working hand in hand to deliver a quality product within the client’s time frame;
Prepare basic analysis and data-book set up new Client profiles and populate a virtual data room.
Undergraduate student, Preferably an Accounting Major in their Junior or Senior Year;
An entrepreneurial, energetic, optimistic attitude;
Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail;
Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral;
A keen interest in finance, accounting and entrepreneurship;
A strong work ethic;
A basic understanding of financial statements.
