When a Lifelong Partnership Needed a Fair Exit, We Delivered 16 Bids

One of our recent transactions involved a $15 million service and rental provider founded by three lifelong friends who had known each other since high school. After more than a decade building the business together, it became clear that each partner was ready for a different next chapter. The company was thriving, but their partnership had reached a natural crossroads. To preserve both the business and their friendship, they knew they needed a clean, fair exit. That’s when they turned to Woodbridge.

We confidentially marketed the company to both strategic and financial buyers, highlighting its strong margins, recurring customer base, and long- term growth potential. The response was immediate when 16 qualified bids came in. The winning bidder was a $100 million private equity fund looking to establish a platform investment in the space. The deal was structured to meet each partner’s personal goals: one remained in an operating role for 3 to 4 years, another stayed on as a consultant, and the third, already largely out of the business, was able to fully exit and move on.

No seller enjoys due diligence, and this deal was no exception. Environmental concerns surfaced during the process, but our team worked closely with both sides to navigate the issues and reach a fair and balanced resolution. The buyer remained committed and motivated to close and no other major concerns popped up. The result was a smooth, timely exit that allowed three friends to walk away satisfied, with their relationships intact and their goals fully realized.
